SLZB-06xU.
Six radio chip options.
SLZB-06xU — an SMLIGHT Ethernet adapter that connects your Zigbee or Thread network to your local network via cable, PoE, or Wi-Fi. It acts as a coordinator or router for a smart home — an intermediary between your Zigbee/Thread devices (lights, sensors, switches) and a server such as Home Assistant.
The series consists of six models with the same enclosure and firmware — only the radio chip inside differs. Below, we first explain what the device does, and then which model to choose.
Zigbee coordinator or router
Manages your Zigbee network directly (coordinator mode) or extends its coverage (router mode). Compatible with Zigbee2MQTT and ZHA.
Thread border router
The same device, switched to Thread/Matter mode with one click — serves your Matter-over-Thread network.
USB devices over the network
Additionally: a USB device connected to it (Z-Wave, BLE, 4G modem) becomes available over the network — just like the built-in radio chip.
Power — PoE, USB-C, or both simultaneously
PoE 802.3af (48V) or USB-C (5V). Both power sources can be connected simultaneously — the input is optically isolated, so they do not interfere with each other.

| Zigbee | Zigbee2MQTT, ZHA — coordinator or router mode. |
| Thread / Matter | Matter-over-Thread border router via OTBR, switched with one click from Zigbee mode. |
| Bluetooth | BLE Proxy for Home Assistant — simultaneously with Zigbee/Thread, without reflashing. |
| USB Passthrough | Z-Wave dongles, BLE modules, 4G modems, and other devices based on CP2102 / CH340 / CDC\_ACM. |
| Servers | Home Assistant (native SMLIGHT integration), Z-Wave JS UI, openHAB, HomeSeer. |

01
Connect power and network
Ethernet cable (with or without PoE) or USB-C. Both can be connected simultaneously.
02
Choose a mode in the web interface
Zigbee coordinator, Zigbee router, or Matter-over-Thread border router — no flashing cable or toolchain required.
03
Connect to the server
Copy the device's network address into Home Assistant, Zigbee2MQTT, or ZHA.

ESP32-S3 core + PSRAM
Dual-core controller running SLZB-OS, networking, USB host, and web interface.
Ethernet W5500
10/100 Mbps hardware TCP/IP controller from WIZnet — stable connection without interference.
+5 dB swivel antenna
External L-shaped antenna with 3-axis adjustment for the best signal.
4 LEDs + button
Visual indication of power, connection, and mode. One button for switching modes.
USB-C power
5V power supplied separately from the passthrough port, with optical isolation from PoE.
Compact enclosure
160 × 24 × 28 mm, wall mounting with screws or double-sided tape.
SLZB-06xU has a dedicated USB host port that exposes not only the built-in radio chip over the network, but also any external USB device connected to it. This is a rare feature among Zigbee/Thread coordinators — most devices on the market provide network access only to their own built-in radio.
Connect a Z-Wave dongle, BLE module, or another USB-serial device (based on CP2102, CH340, or CDC\_ACM chips) to the USB port of SLZB-06xU — and it will become available over the network via TCP/IP, just like the built-in coordinator.
Limitation: only one external USB device can operate through passthrough at a time.
Bluetooth Proxy — simultaneously with Zigbee/Thread
New in the U series: thanks to PSRAM, the device works as a BLE proxy for Home Assistant simultaneously with the main radio, without reflashing to a separate ESPHome build.
Zigbee Hub mode
Direct control of Zigbee devices through the web interface, without a separate server. Available on SLZB-06U, 06P7U, and 06P10U (Texas Instruments chips).
OTA updates
Update the radio chip firmware and SLZB-OS over the network with one click.
WireGuard VPN + DDNS
Secure remote access to the device, even if your provider changes the IP address.
ESPHome support
Switch to ESPHome through the built-in web flasher and back, without a flashing cable.
Multilingual interface
Convenient web interface in multiple languages and LED indication control.
For locations without wired internet or Wi-Fi, the SLZB-06xU coordinator can be connected to mobile internet via SMLIGHT USB-Extender, if the modem antenna needs to be placed separately.
The 4G modem connects through the USB host passthrough port, so it occupies the only available passthrough channel — another external USB device (Z-Wave, BLE, etc.) cannot be connected simultaneously with the 4G modem. Together with WireGuard VPN, this provides a fully autonomous, remotely accessible smart home gateway where there is no wired internet.
